#1 – Introduction To My Food Lens Podcast

I’m so excited. I’ve been working on bringing this podcast to you since the beginning of 2021 but given covid, it seemed like it would never happen, but now that it’s finally going live – it seems unreal.
As we start, let me give you a brief background of myself, what to expect from this podcast so that whenever you’re tuning in, you know what you’re tuning in for.
THE BACKGROUND
In my past life, not too long back, I used to be an architect. I was a healthcare architect, which means I used to design healthcare facilities. That was my specialization.
I spent 15 years studying and practicing architecture in different countries of the world and finally landed in Singapore, which is home for me now.
6 years and 2 large hospital designs later in Singapore, I was taking a break from architecture and during that break, one thing led to another, and I ended up changing careers.
Today, completing 10 years in Singapore, I am a commercial and editorial food stylist and food photographer and the founder of the business, My Food Lens where I help clients elevate their brand with droolworthy photos.
I work with a range of clients from restaurants, hotels to international magazines, lifestyle and food brands. My motto is, ‘put your best food forward’.
THE PODCAST – Who it is for..
This podcast is for anyone related to food, photography & everything in between. I’ll keep it raw and real here, so whether food and photography is your hobby or you’re a professional or you’re on the threshold – you’ll find the content useful.
As someone who switched career paths and set up a successful business right from scratch, I will openly share my journey, the learnings, mistakes I made along the way & everything I wish I knew when I had started.
My aim is that with each episode you either walk away with an answer, or the next action to take or with inspiration, not just for creativity but also the mindset on how to stay positive throughout your creative journey.
I hope the answers and actions you gather in the episodes will empower you take the leap forward, whatever that leap may be for you.
As a hobbyist, it may be monetizing your social media or finding your first client. As a professional, it may be finding returning clients, and as someone on the threshold, that leap might be to make the switch.
THE TOPICS
We will cover the entire spectrum of topics ranging from food styling, food photography, social media, business strategies to mindset because each of these topics tie into the other.
I will be releasing one episode every week which will have both, an audio part which is the podcast but if you’re not really into podcasts, I’ll also have the same topic covered on my blog.
And on this podcast, while you’ll have me in your ears a lot, I’ll be inviting a ton of experts and inspirational folks from all the over the world to share their experience with us.
THE TONE
This podcast will be high energy, conversational, sometimes goofy but overall informative and engaging. I am all about bringing to you the highest quality of content, which is why, the episodes will range anywhere from 10-30 minutes depending on the topic. Interviews might be longer.
So, whether you’re getting your first cup of tea for the day, or traveling to work or, maybe taking a coffee break at work, walking outside in nature, or just admiring the sky sitting in your balcony – this podcast should be able to fit your schedule. I hope so.
